Apple releases macOS Big Sur 11.1 supporting AirPods Max and App Store privacy tags

Apple today released macOS Big Sur 11.1 to the public in a beta version one month later. The update adds support for AirPods Max, the long-awaited App Store privacy label and Apple News widgets.

Since Apple released macOS 11 to all users last month, macOS 11.1 is the first major update of Big Sur. It has a redesigned interface, control center, new Messages application, Safari enhancements, and new M1 Macs. Support etc.

Today's update adds support for AirPods Max, which is the new in-ear headphones that Apple announced last week. Users can now wirelessly pair AirPods Max with compatible Macs and benefit from adaptive equalizer, active noise reduction, transparency mode and spatial audio.

With this update, users can now access the App Store privacy tab and report in detail what user data each app available on the App Store can access. In addition, macOS Big Sur 11.1 comes with a new Apple News widget, a new Apple TV + label on the TV app, support for the Apple ProRAW format, and optimization for Macs running the M1 chip.

Now you can go to the "Software Update" menu in the "System Preferences" application to update your Mac to the latest version of macOS Big Sur.

  • The new privacy information section on the App Store page, which includes a summary of app privacy practices reported by the developer
  • The in-game dashboard in the Arcade game recommends you to play the new Arcade game

IPhone and iPad apps on Macs with M1

New window options for iPhone and iPad apps allow you to switch between landscape and portrait orientation, or expand the window to fill the entire screen


Apple ProRAW photos can be edited in the "Photos" app

  • Applicable to Maps and Siri in Mainland China

This version also resolves the following issues:
